Brief history of the Lodge Hotel

No. 52 Upper Richmond Rd was a large private house with a large garden and no. 54 was a private school. They were both purchased by the Hirschfeld family and in the 1970's they were joined together and converted into the Lodge Hotel, which gradually expanded to the rear and sideways, also converting an old, attached coach house into more bedrooms. Eventually the hotel reached its optimum size in 1995.
The hotel has always been under the same ownership, but it is today operated on a lease from the Hirschfeld family.

Personnel

Keith Povah, previously General Manager of the Lodge Hotel, took on a lease from Tony Hirschfeld in 1997, to take control of the hotel operation. Continual refurbishments and improvements ever since have made the Best Western Lodge Hotel what it is today. Over 30 members of staff, split into Reception, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Maintenance and general administration make up the team. The Lodge Hotel is committed to on-going training and development of the staff and hence received the "Investors In People" award in the year 2000.
